DON'T BE RUDE TO TELEMARKETERS!

All right, I just started my new job. Yesterday was my first day. I have to call people and get them to do a brief survey with me over the phone.
Basically, I'm a telemarketer.
I was prepared for people not picking up (Most didn't though my shift goes from 3pm-9pm so most probably weren't home)
For the most part, people didn't answer, which was fine, or were plight about not wanting to take it or took the survey.
Then, at about 8:05, it happened.
Just a note, guys, we're not allowed to hang up until you do, or say anything until you say something first. We aren' allowed to curse at all and we have a script that we have to stick to.
I work 6 hours, and thats a generally shorter shift because I'm still a student (16)
This one lady had her HUSBANd answer the phone in a female voice and say it was here, and when I started on the script, she took the phone and started ranting and yelling at me.
She apparently thought it was a prank call or something, I couldn't really tel because I had to keep the phone a bit ways from my ear so I wouldn't blow an ear drum and like I said, we're not allowed to hang up until you do.
Another person put dial up right next to the speaker and screeched it into the phone, also almost bursting my ear drum.
Guys, you literally only have to say "I'm sorry I'm not interested" if you don't want us to call you again! Honestly I was shocked by the lengths people would go too!
So please, everyone, I know it may seem hard to imagine, but this is their /job/ they are working and trying to do what their supposed to so they can get paid.
The first thing my boss said to me was "You'll be lucky to get 10 surveys complete in a six hour shift"
I didn't really believe her until I started working.
Please, please don't be rude! it makes our day easier and honestly, it helps us keep our moral up.
