DawnClan was founded by the wise and noble leader Dawnstar. Dawnstar was very compassionate and she cared and loved her clan very much, and the clan honored her for her fascinating leadership. Dawnstar wanted nothing more than what was best for her clan, and she did her best to always enforce the warrior code and to follow it. The she-cat carried out her great duties as a leader until she lost her final life in a forest fire. Dawnstar was then succeeded by her deputy, Hazelstar, who still lives on to this day.

DawnClan territory is mostly forest, but has a few open spaces here and there. The camp is in the heart of its territory, and it is well-guarded by many brambles and thickets, as well as some tall grasses and other plants. DawnClan’s camp is hard to attack, but easy to defend. The dens are carved out from large boulders or fallen logs. Each den provides enough shelter from the weather as well as other elements from the earth. The nursery is the den farthest from the entrance, since kits are more vulnerable and easier to be snatched. The elder’s den is next to the nursery, while the rest of the dens are more spread out and not so far against the camp’s back walls. The medicine cat’s and the warriors’ den are the two largest dens, as they must be able to provide shelter for the most cats. More towards the interior of the camp is the fresh-kill pile, as well as the High Rock in which the leader uses to call clan meetings and hold ceremonies.
