Blackkit was prodded by her sister, Horsekit, awoken from slumber. Sharpkit, her brother, stood behind Horsekit. "C'mon, Blackkit! Play Catch the Mouse with us! You can even be the Warrior!" Horsekit squeaked. Blackkit huffed and stood.

A mew rumbled behind them, sweet and soothing. Brightlight, their mother, purred, "Who said you were going out on your own in camp?" All of the little whined in disappointment. She chuckled at how they reacted. "Go on. I am joking. Just be safe!" She called as they tumbled out of the nursery.

Blackkit whispered to Sharpkit and Horsekit, "We can sneak out through the Warriors' Den if we hurry..."


Horsekit gasped and stepped back. Sharpkit quickly nodded. He crept into the den. He was careful not to step on tails, and effort was plastered across his eyes as he made it to the other wall with no disturbance. Horsekit sighed in frustration of her siblings and went next and all was well. Then it was Blackkit's turn.

She confidently trotted into the den. She snuck past Redwood, her father, Swirlwater, Sweetflower, Snapdragon, Swiftfish, Lilywhisker, Dawnrise, Lichentooth, and other warriors, and finally made it to the other side. They crept out of the hole in the wall and into the huge forest.

Horsekit whined, "I'm tired. Can we please go home?" She was slouching as she walked, as well as the other kits. She sat back on her haunches and heaved a sigh. Blackkit shrugged and Sharpkit muttered under his breath at the lazy little kit.

Horsekit curled up under the tree and slept. Blackkit was soon beside her and Sharpkit collapsed under the oak and slept, rain pattering the ground around them.
