Sally was a content, happy kitten. She got canned cat food every day. One day, something didn’t seem right. She looked at her dish. She didn’t see her normal helping of cat food!
“Miss Mommy!” She called to her owner, “I need more food!” Of course, her owner didn’t understand kitten language.
“What do you want, Sallykins?”
“My name is Sally, not Sallykins!”
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong with my baby?”
Sally didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t help herself any longer.
“I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Why is the baby mad? Why is the baby mad? She just wants attention!”
“I WANT FOOD!”
Then her owner, (or Miss Mommy) got a case, and put Sally in!
“Let’s go bye-bye!”
“No!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sally screamed, “NOOOOOOOOOOO!”
After a while…
“Here we are!”
She heard something loud. She saw tons of cars! It was an…. ANIMAL SHELTER!!!!!!!! Sally wailed! She scratched the case!
She heard “Miss Mommy” talking to another “mommy”!
“We think it’s time for a new cat. And a CAT! Not a little disaster of a kitten ,like Sally here.” Said her “mommy”.
“Ok. Here’s Harold, the big gray cat. Let’s take Sally right in this cage…”
In her cage, Sally saw other cats, in other cages!
“Hey there, was’ up? My name’s Melvin. Yours?”
“Oh. I’m Sally.” Sally muttered back.
“Have you seen Harold lately?” Melvin asked.
“Yes. My Mommy got him as her own . now I’m left with you meanies.”
“My name is Princess Paulina.” Said a white Persian with crystal blue eyes.
Soon Sally saw another kitten come in!
“We don’t have enough cages for little Rosie!” Said a mommy.
“We will put her in with Sally.”
They put Rosie in Sally’s cage!
“He-Hello…” Rosie said, trembling.
“Hello. D-did th-they call you Rosie?”
“Yes, they did.” Said Rosie.
“Are you scared?” Asked Sally.
“Yes.” replied Rosie.
Soon the two kittens became friends.
Soon Sally saw a kind of cat food in a bag! It wasn’t in a can!
“Yum!” Sally said, licking her lips.
“Oh no, Not dry cat food.” Rosie said.
“DRY???!!! Cool!” Sally replied.
Soon, brown pellets were falling out of the bag! Sally ate one. It wasn’t as good as canned cat food. Sally mewed. She whimpered, and cried. Nobody came with wet cat food! She put her paws on the lock! Nobody came! She just ate dry cat food .
She walked around her cage. She saw her new litter box. It didn’t have a cover! Everything had changed. She cried in her sleep that night. She twisted and turned. Rosie couldn’t sleep either. Sally took a midnight bath. She slowly and sadly played with her new ball. She slowly fell asleep. That morning, a mommy came in! She picked up both kittens! She put them back in the cage, and left the room with Melvin. More mommies came in and took cats! None took Rosie or Sally. Mommies took cats in too! Then they had another kitten in with them!
“My name is M-Missy.” She said.
“Hi, Missy.” Sally and Rosie said. Missy opened one eye. Soon they found out, that Missy only had one eye.
“May we b-be friends?” Missy asked.
It was hard being friends with a one-eyed cat. But soon they were all good friends.
Sally started to cough. Soon a ball of fur came out of her mouth, with a bit of chewed food on top. Sally had a fur ball.
“Every cat gets a fur ball” Missy soothed her, “not every cat has one eye.” She added.
“Yes. It’s about time I get a fur ball, Sally.”
“But fur covered with chewed food is gross.” Sally mewed.
“Put it in the litter box.” Missy said.
“Ok.”
Soon a mommy came in! It was one she knew! It wasn’t her Miss Mommy, but she visited this mommy’s house sometimes!
“Aunt Mommy!’ Sally yelled!
“My… My Miss Mommy!” Rosie said, quietly.
“Aunt Mommy!” Missy said.
With the kits saying these, Sally realized something. She remembered something… A long time ago, they had all been together, sucking milk from… Princess Paulina!
“We- we are… litter mates…” Sally whispered, under her breath, “litter mates…” And Aunt Mommy bought them and Princess Paulina.
And at their new home was their father, Melvin!
They all grew together. They were a family!
After the story, they hunted, and were as happy as possible. Sally had her old life again!!!!
